Hello and welcome!
Have you every thought how most everyone loves a good story? Content may vary but ask a friend to share a story about her child, his spouse, a favorite book or movie and off the conversation goes.
Me, I absolutely love a good story, especially when someone overcomes a great obstacle. I love to be inspired & encouraged as the underdog beats his tormentor, wins the game, or succeeds in some amazing way. My favorite story? Scripture. God’s story. A story of great love, great loss, and great redemption . . . and how my own little life fits into it all.
As with any good story, I've had quite a cast of characters join me - a family who set a firm foundation of unconditional love, the gift of raising 7 kids . . . 2 by birth, 5 by choice (I know, right?) and countless other kids I've cared for through babysitting, leading children's ministry, and teaching even bigger ones (read: adults) in need of hope.
My plot includes some good times and quite a few not-so-good times including the death of my youngest daughter, Emma, the years that followed her death trying to "do" ministry while in deep grief, and a struggling marriage that ended in divorce.
I've been a mom, stepmom, wife, daughter, ministry leader and friend . . . but the most important part of my story is my relationship with Jesus. A relationship that has been forged through the fire of suffering and molded into a beautiful masterpiece of authenticity, perseverance, hope, grace, and love. Okay, and a touch of quirkiness for added fun.
I'm so thankful my story didn't end with sorrow. God continues to heal and restore, comfort and challenge, redeem and inspire. He's given me a second chance in marriage with three more kids to love. He brings blessing and goodness in ways I can't always explain but search for every day.
I believe the same healing and hope I've experienced is available to you as well.
Still hoping & healing . . .
PS - here's a brief glimpse into the reason why I write - and live - with hope.
